Every bead is shaped and painted in Peru, the black-and-white pattern laid down stroke by careful stroke before kiln firing locks the contrast in for good. Each one measures 1 inch square with a 2-3mm hole, sized for cord, leather, or heavier stringing wire.
Graphic black and white plays well with nearly everything. Set a single bead against bright reds or turquoise for punch, or string several alongside neutral wood and bone for a muted, organic look. The square silhouette gives earrings real presence and holds its own as a necklace focal point without extra framing.
Sets contain four beads. Hand-painting means slight differences from one zebra to the next — the kind of variation that proves a person, not a machine, made them, one brushstroke at a time.
