Each piece begins as a hand-sculpted wax model, encased in investment plaster, and burned out at 1,350 degrees before molten sterling silver is poured at over 1,640 degrees Fahrenheit. A centrifugal caster generates roughly 50 G's of force to push molten silver into every fine detail — a 6,500-year-old technique dating back to ancient Egypt and Rome.
A pair of handcuffs with their chain link, rendered in 3D sterling silver at just over 3/4" wide. The double-lock mechanism, ratchet arms, and connecting chain are all visible — an unmistakable symbol with multiple interpretations.
