The rolled parchment form is rendered with visible text lines and surface texture suggesting aged material, produced through a lost-wax casting process that is itself approximately 6,500 years old — older than the scrolls it commemorates. Individual hand-finishing through progressive polishing stages completes each piece, bringing out the texture of the rolled form.
The Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered between 1947 and 1956 in caves near the northwestern shore of the Dead Sea and contain the oldest known manuscripts of the Hebrew Bible. The significance of that find — intact texts from communities living at the dawn of Christianity — continues to reshape scholarship. A sterling silver jump ring comes included and attached.
