Gutzon Borglum chose these four presidents to represent the nation's birth (Washington), growth (Jefferson), development (Roosevelt), and preservation (Lincoln). The carving required dynamite to remove 450,000 tons of rock before fine carving could begin. A sterling silver jump ring is included.
