Flat lost-wax casting captures all four presidential faces in detailed relief. At 3.7 grams, this charm has the substantial feel of solid silver. Hand-finishing through progressive stages reveals each face and the surrounding granite texture.
Gutzon Borglum chose these four presidents to represent the nation's birth (Washington), growth (Jefferson), development (Roosevelt), and preservation (Lincoln). The carving required dynamite to remove 450,000 tons of rock before fine carving could begin. A sterling silver jump ring is included.
