Mayan Dragon Charm Sterling Silver | Ancient Aztec Icon | Mesoamerican Jewelry | Made in USA
The feathered serpent of Mesoamerican legend, cast in 3.5 grams of .925 sterling silver. This Mayan dragon charm packs centuries of mythology into a compact 5/8" x 1/2" frame.
After lost-wax casting, each piece is hand-filed with particular care around the angular jaw lines and scrollwork borders that define Mayan artistic style. The progressive polishing — tripoli, rouge, final buff — brings out the interplay of smooth surfaces and incised geometric patterns that characterize pre-Columbian metalwork.
This design is rooted in the iconography of Kukulkan — known as Quetzalcoatl to the Aztecs — the feathered serpent deity who represented wind, air, and learning. Ancient Mayan artisans carved his image into every major temple complex from Chichen Itza to Tikal. Wearing the serpent was believed to invite wisdom and good fortune.
An excellent gift for world travelers, history enthusiasts, archaeology buffs, or anyone drawn to the art and symbolism of ancient civilizations. Sterling silver jump ring included and attached for immediate wear.
