Hummingbird in flight — every feather defined in .925 sterling silver, Made in USA through the ancient art of lost-wax casting. This 3D pendant weighs 2.3 grams and measures 5/8 by 3/4 of an inch, sized to work as both a pendant and a charm.

The lost-wax method is a 6,500-year-old technique used by the goldsmiths of ancient Egypt and Greece. A hand-sculpted wax model is encased in investment plaster, burned out at 1,350 degrees, and replaced with molten sterling silver at over 1,640 degrees. The centrifugal caster generates approximately 50 G's of force, ensuring that liquid metal reaches every fine barb and quill of the wing feathers.

This hummingbird shows a slightly different pose from our other design — wings positioned at a different angle, body tilted as if darting toward a blossom. The long, slender beak and fanned tail feathers are rendered in crisp three-dimensional relief. With over 360 species worldwide and the ability to hover, fly backward, and reach speeds of 30 mph in forward flight, hummingbirds are among the most remarkable creatures in the avian world.
