Each piece begins as a hand-carved wax model, then cast using the 6,500-year-old lost-wax method at over 1,640 degrees Fahrenheit. After casting, every charm is individually filed, sanded, and polished by hand to a mirror-bright finish.
The hobby horse — a simple stick with a horse head — has been a children's toy since at least the 16th century, appearing in paintings, literature, and nursery rhymes throughout the English-speaking world. This 3D charm measures 7/8" x 3/4" and weighs 3.1 grams, with the horse's mane and bridle visible in the casting.
