Artisans in Peru paint each cube individually, then kiln-fire it so the color is sealed into the surface rather than sitting on top. The geometry is what makes these so useful: flat sides keep the hearts facing forward instead of rolling out of view, and at about 0.394" per side they read clearly at a glance without overpowering a delicate strand. The 3mm hole takes most cords, leather laces, and wire gauges without a fight.
Use them as spacers between chunkier focal beads, run several together for a color-blocked bracelet, or knot one onto a simple cord and call it done. Since every heart is brushed on freehand, no two cubes in a batch match exactly — that variation is part of what you are buying.
At barely a third of a gram apiece, they add charm without adding weight.
