The 14/20 designation is a regulated standard: a true layer of 14K gold bonded permanently over a jeweler's brass core, which is why gold-filled findings keep their color long after plated ones wear through. Each pin is drawn to 24 gauge — slim enough to pass through small gemstone and pearl drillings, sturdy enough to hold a wrapped loop — and ends in a preformed 0.065" eye.
