A spinning dreidel captured mid-game in .925 sterling silver, Made in USA through lost-wax casting. This 3D charm weighs 1.8 grams and measures 0.19" x 1/2", faithfully reproducing the four-sided top's traditional form.
Each dreidel is cast from a hand-sculpted wax model, with the casting process preserving the Hebrew letters on each face. After casting, hand-finishing brings the surface to a polished shine. No two pieces come out exactly identical -- each carries the subtle marks of handcraft.
The dreidel game is played during Hanukkah, with each of the four Hebrew letters -- Nun, Gimel, He, Shin -- standing for "Nes Gadol Haya Sham" (a great miracle happened there). The game itself dates to a time when Jewish study was forbidden and students would hide their texts and pull out spinning tops if authorities appeared.
