At 1 gram and 1/2" x 3/8", the proportions mirror the breed's own compact frame. Lost-wax casting is essential at this small scale — the sculptural depth needed to capture the domed skull and wide-set ears cannot be achieved by flat stamping. After casting, hand-polishing with tripoli and rouge compounds produces a lasting mirror finish. A sterling silver jump ring is attached.
The breed descends from the Techichi, a companion dog kept by the ancient Toltec civilization since the 9th century, and despite rarely exceeding six pounds it routinely outbluffs dogs ten times its size. Chihuahua owners, small-dog devotees, and anyone building a dog-breed bracelet will find this charm fits right in — as will anyone who has been firmly managed by a five-pound roommate.
