Each piece begins as a hand-sculpted wax model, encased in investment plaster, and burned out at 1,350 degrees before molten sterling silver is poured at over 1,640 degrees Fahrenheit. A centrifugal caster generates roughly 50 G's of force to push molten silver into every fine detail — a 6,500-year-old technique dating back to ancient Egypt and Rome.
The toque blanche — the tall, pleated white hat that has been the mark of a professional chef since the 1800s — cast in 3D sterling silver at 1/2" x 1/2". At 3.9 grams, this charm has the substantial feel of a serious kitchen credential.
